All our food comes from the sun. Sun energy is captured, especially by plants, and then transformed into varieties of foods that we can eat. But, if there had not been any thought put into this system, we could just as well have had only one kind of fruit or vegetable to eat. How boring might that have been?

Instead, there are millions of varieties of eatable fruits, flowers, and vegetables readily available to all living creatures. Avocados, zucchini, kale, peas, and on and on . . . Although these foods are all merely eatable transformations of sunlight, nonetheless, they are also tasty, attractive, and plentiful. Now, that’s something to be grateful for.
